Arrow Which CAI is the easiest?

I have the K&N CAI and it's a royal PITA to attach the filter onto the K&N tube because you basically have to have someone under the car shoving the filter up onto the tube and then someone up top holding the tube so it doesn't move around. Plus it doesn't take much for it to fall off. Is there any better/easier setup? I was looking at the SLP CAI with the dual filters but do these also attach the same way??? just looking for a CAI that isn't a PITA to change the filter.

I have the moroso and I'm able to just put the filter on the plate and push the filter on down through the hole.

that would work. or maybe i could just get a diff K&N filter that would still fit on the tube but skinny enough to push through the whole. I just hate to have to buy a whole different CAI just because it's a pain to put the filter on. Who knows maybe the previous owner replaced it with the wrong filter and that's why it's a pain to install. I'll check when i get home.

I would think you'd be able to. I mean it is tight but it should go through.

They are probably all about them same. My Moroso is a bit of a pain to change the filter on, but nothing major.

The Moroso/Callaway cover plate bolts to the chassis, allowing you to push up on the filter from the bottom as hard as you have to, to get the filter on. No need for anyone to hold the tube down from the top. Couldn't you bolt down the K&N cover plate the same way (if it has a cover plate), and make it a one-man job?

I also used a clamp on the K&N filter on the Callaway to keep it from falling off, and that worked fine for 65K miles.

You could roll it up on ramps and take off the plastic guard under the left front bumper. I think it's 4 or 5 bolts holding it on. Pretty quick job.

I have the moroso as well and it was a pain. Had to cut it some to get it to work.

I've had the FIPK for about 9 years now...It was a PITA at first but I guess you get used to it. When I go to put mine back on I rub a little oil on the rim of the filter and give it a little twist to get it started. Then I get to my knees and with one hand underneath on the filter I hold the tube down with the other hand and it slides the rest of the way on. Clamp it down and your on your way. It beats the hell out of changing spark plugs with stock manifolds!!!

They are all pretty much the same. The LPE unit we sell is probably the best bang for the buck.

i found an easier solution. i was messing with it last night and decided just to make the hole bigger so i cut it out more and now it's a piece of cake to install it. you really can't even notice it b/c if the location.

glad you made it work for you, because that would have not been worth it to change your CAI just because its hard to put on....if you get that clamp on there right you shouldnt really have any problems with it tho, my K&N has been on for over 8 months now w/no problems
