CAI and catback or headers

i already have a magnaflow muffler with stock piping and an electric cutout before the rear axle... and a k&n filter. i have about enough money for a hooker catback and moroso CAI......so i was wondering if i should get those or save more and get jet hot coated long tubes?

Your going to want all the mods sooner or later. So I guess its just the order at which you do them. I guess seeing that your on a budget, and you have a cutout already, that probably opens up the exhaust enough considering your on stock cam/heads. I would save for the headers and then either pick up a used CAI or make one yourself out of PVC. Good luck..

I'm not a fan of the homemade CAI. There is actually engineering that goes into them. Get a K&N CAI, or some other reputable brand.

engineering smengineering.... If you have a round tube that is sucking clean hi-flow filtered air from a cool (not engine bay)source not pulling water... Then you have a great CAI. Nothing much more to it. If you can build it yourself (very easy) you can save a lot of money and get the same results.

Well if that's the case, why don't they just sell you a piece of PVC pipe for a CAI?

It's not only cold air, it reduces turbulence as well. If you're making 90 bends with PVC, you're going to make some turbulence.

There is engineering that goes into CAI. CAI has a bottle neck that acts as a venturi to gets the incoming charge velocity up.
