A/C Q? What psi should high and low ports be?

Exactly what the title says. I'm getting 130psi on the low and 125-130 on the high side. That seems way too low on the high side. A/c runs like crapola...warm!

Thanks
-Omar

ps I had no clue on where to post this

It's a general tech question.

A/c performance chart

Those numbers seem really low. Is that for r-12?

Thanks for the info tho.

your pressures are equalized due to the compressor not runing.

also. your overcharged

The clutch engages, so I know the compressor is running. Although the clutch might not be grabbing like it should resulting in a lower high side pressure.

How do you conclude that im overcharged? Is that table that shoebox posted correct?

Thanks

I agree that if the pressure is near the same on both sides, the compressor is not compressing.

With the compressor on, and with a good charge you should see ~25-50psi on the low side, and on the high side it should be up towards 200psi.

you should never see more then about 100-110 PSI on the low side at it's max. And it will be it;s highest when the AC is off. with it being over that you are over charged. the fact that you have high low side pressures and low high side pressres and the compressor is running means that the internals of the compressor have come apart. that means no sucktion to lower the low side and no pressure to raise the high side. My guess would be the overcharging blew the comprssor.

woudnt a high pressure on the low side and a low pressure on the high side also indicate a blockage in the system?

awesome. Thanks for the help guys. I just needed more convincing to myself to tear out the ac compressor. I think I'll wait until it gets a little cooler outside until I tackle that problem.

Hopefully its not the whole compressor. I'm hoping its just a clogged orafice tube.
