My TA made this noise twice yesterday - when I stopped at the gas station and when I pulled in the garage, both times I was stopped and ready to turn it off. The one time I think it continued for a few seconds after the car was off.

I would describe it as a very loud buzzing, kind of like when you get water hammer in the pipes in a house. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Like that.

I have no idea what could make that noise. Fans? Fuel pump? HVAC wasn't on so it's not that.

 

my brothers TA did that too i think it had something to do with the headlight motor. didn't matter if they were up or not it always did it when he turned it off

 

It sounded a lot louder than that. And I wasn't turning the headlights off.

 

yeah it was pretty loud on my bro's too. and i was saying that it happened evertime no matter what, he didn't have to be turning the headlights off or not

 

I was thinking the lights were down already, but even with the ignition off they would still have power. You called it right man! Good job. And a cheap problem to fix.

Mine does the same thing on my T/A, and it did the same thing on my 96 Z-28. The best I can figure is it is the smog pump winding.
