Buying a Z today, need opinions

Hey my 96 GT sold yesterday so today im picking up one of two z28s. Either a '95 Auto Vert or a '96 6spd T-Top. Still cant decide between the two. I frequent the track but ive heard good things about both cars (auto vs manual). I also work at a service dept and a tech is going to install some stuff for me. Im keeping the equity from my stang (about 3K) and spending it on mods right off the bat. Prolly going LTs offroad y, borla catback, LT4 Hot Cam package, FIPK. What times could i expect outta each car with those listed mods and what rwhp would i be at approximately? Im a mustang guy, but my understanding is that LT1s dyno about 260-280 at the wheels stock. Thanks for the help, sorry for the long post.

Choosing a m6 or a4 should be a decision only you can make. The manual is difficult to launch without spinning, but a lot of fun.

I just wanted to say that those rear wheel numbers are pretty high for an LT1. I think a stock one would be about 30 lower than what you're thinking.

Convertable will be heavier, but T-tops are useless. I haven't used my T's in months. If it is going to be more of your race/track car, get the auto. If its more a daily driver and not in traffic all day, I would say get a manual. A torque converter with a shift kit will be more consistent and shift just as well, but usually better than a human can in a manual.

Ok, you've swayed me to the M6, but what about the mods? LT4 Hot cam kit + full exhaust.. how much rwhp am i looking at? I figure around 13.20s@108mph ETs (My friends car is exactly like this ) Thanks again.

I believe, correct me if I am wrong here, but at the track, doesn't a 13.9 in a drop top = cage? 12.99 for coupes, 13.99 for convertibles. I can't remember if it is 11.99/12.99 or 12.99/13.99.

You will want to get SFC's either way, especially in the vert, in both if you plan on racing it.
Cage = 11.99 for coupe, 12.99 for vert.

My 94 with the mods in the sig did 13.16@107, and that was with spinning quite a bit from the 1st to 2nd shift. Throw some drag radials on and for sure it will net you 12.8-12.9s. Set of ported lt1 heads and your looking at mid 12s.
