Buying MAC headers what do you think? PLEASE

Hey I am going to probably use the buy it now on this auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7913068029 What do you guys think? Is it a good deal? Is it true that these aren't as long as long tubes but longer than a mid-length header. I already ordered a Magna Flow and my rebuilt transmission is being dropped off tonight so I need to choose a header quick. Please help

I have heard nothing but good things about the MAC's. Once I get the money, that's what i'll go with. But you could probably get them cheaper. Check these people out. They are a supporting advertiser. New Era Performance

Gotta love 'em, but yeah you can find them cheaper. Heck, you can get them with Jet-Hot coating for another $100.(about $550 shipped)

Yeah, you can definetely find them cheaper than that. And they dont have 1 3/4" primaries, they have 1 5/8" primaries, the description is wrong. Yeah, if you dont want them coated, buy them from one of our supporting advertisers , if you want them coated, get them Jet-Hot coated, also one of our supporting advertisers!

Get them from a board advertiser and from what I have heard the Mac's are the best header to with aside from the LT's.

The more I read about the macs... The more I wonder what I'm missing out on... IS it worth swapping out the Edelbrocks for? How much of an actual gain might one see over swapping out? Put the $500.00 towards the heads or what?

Let me guess you can't get the MAC's without the Air and Egr hookups? I wanted to deleted those and buy the block off plates. What kind of differences are there with no egr or air? Let me know. Thanks

Well, macs come coated usually...

http://www.ls1speed.com/catagory.cfm?catagory=exhaust

thats where i got mine... probably not the cheapest, but they are excellent.... they come coated too, and so far there is no rust or anything, very good

They come with the emmissions hookups because they are designed to be emmisions legal, even though they dont have a emmisions number

I hear edelbrocks suck! They are pretty much worthless from what ive read from some guys on the board... ASM or MACs are the best mid length header out there... they are longer than shorties, but short enough to where they dont move the cat, so they can pass the visual inspection

True, they do come coated, but its a very cheap coating and isnt designed to be used in harsh climates. The coating is probably ok in dry and warm areas, but when you start including winters with salt and stuff like that, I doubt the coating will hold up at all. Thats why most people get theirs Jet-Hot coated.

So I can't get the Mac's without the air and egr hookups? Do I loose any power from having the air and egr hooked up as opposed to not haveing them?
