Buying an LT1 Z28...Need Advice!

Greetings all! I found a '96 M6 Z28 with 80k that I'm having my mechanic look at on Tuesday. Are there any specifics that I can have him test out? Any way to test the existing Opti-spark?

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Best way to test the opti is to go run it hard in 2nd and 3rd gear to redline and listen for misses. Thats how I knew my friends was going out...however, there may be another way, perhaps someone else will post and let you know. Make sure the synchros feel good, listen to the rear end, have your mechanic check the motor and under part of the car for leaks. They're pretty durable cars and if its showing signs of being worn or driven hard it probably was. Check the oil pressure not only with the guage but actually check the pressure make sure its up to snuff. After its warmed up you should be around 18 psi at idle and then 35-40 crusing at about 1500 or 2000rpm.

Hey Ron! Yeah, I'm on just about every board these days!

Well I fell to the pressure and went back there yesterday, otherwise I was gonna go to that Morris cruise. I made him an offer of $7200 out the door ($6600 before taxes) and he accepted. Now I wanna get my mechanic to check it out before I sign the paperwork and she's mine!

Funny enough, just driving down the street one day!

It caught my eye because it's Dark Purple Metallic, had the rare factory chromed "salad shooter" rims, and dark tints all around. Was pretty sharp!
