??? about O2 sensors
??? about O2 sensors
Ok, i have narrowed down my miss/lack of power down to my O2 sensors. B/C if I unplug them, the car will run fine (with the SES light on of course), but as soon as I plug them in, the car runs like crap. So my question is, will it hurt anything to leave the sensors unplugged? And also, i plan on getting som LT's in the future, so would some O2 sims be a wise investment, i mean would they hurt anything if I went ahead and bought some? Thanks in advance guys!!!
You need the O2 sensors. That's how your computer determines your AFR, among other things. When you get LTs, you will need to get wire extensions for your O2 sensors, not sims. If your O2s are giving your problems you should try gettting new AC Delco ones, and see if that helps. You sensors could just be fouled. The sims are for cars with O2 sensors after the cats ('96+), which your car does not have. You need the front O2 sensors to be operational.
O2 sims are for the after the cat O2's on OBDII's.
You'll need some replacement AC Delco's. Advance sells them, or you can order them from Jason Cromer/Dal they all list about $35 or so each.
If you do a search (not being a jerky here), someone mentioned the other day that he ran without them plugged in and all is well. Doesn't sound like the best idea to me, but then again, I've never tried it.
