Buy heads or port and polish??

I am getting heads very soon, but I would like to know if buying heads would be better or getting the extra cores I picked up ported and polished? I have not really looked at pre built heads, what would work best with my car? I have longtubes and cai. I have a comp cam 224/230. I would like to make over 400 hp with the setup. Any suggestions??

Thanks!

Port and polish, get them to 270+ CFM for half the price!

If you're talking 400 at the rear wheel, you might want to consider a different cam with ported and polished heads. The 224/230 will get close, but it's not going deliver those kinds of numbers.

Both Phil and Lloyd offer heads and cam packages that should get the numbers you're looking for with relative ease - and not ruin driveability.

I know, I was thinking of selling my cam and getting is it a 227/233? or 230/236. I know of Lloyd and Phil. Phil said he was going to put something together for the power I want to make, but I emailed him twice in the last three days and I havent gotten a response yet.

Sorry

Lloyd Elliot. He goes by 'Nighttrain66' on this board if you want to do some searches and see what he's had to say.. Good reading! No website, but his email is: nighttrain66@msn.com

Phil Odom. He goes by 'Skarodom' on this board. Again, good stuff to read. His site is: http://www.advancedinduction.com/

Mitch, once you get heads done, I'd leave the off the shelf cams on the shelf. Get a custom cam that goes with the heads. Both Lloyd and Phil offer these.

I don't know what to tell you about Phil other than he's worth the wait from what I've seen on this board. I'd give him some more time if you can.

I guess, I was trying to avoid a custom cam because my dad is paying for most of this and I dont want to keep driving the price on him, since he doesnt want to work cause of school and all. I guess I could sell my cam for 200 and my extra cores for 200 to offset the cost. Anyone know what Phil has been up to? Those of you who have got work done by Phil, how long does it take? I want them by early to mid june.

Give Lloyd a shot, shoot him an email. I think you'll be very surprised at how far your $ will go with him. I bet you can stay within your budget and come up with a package that'll suit you. As a matter of fact - I'm going with one of his h&c packages this month.
