Burning some wires

How common is it to burn through this wire loom with lt's? I burned the loom but I think the wires survived. I am going to get some heat wrap and re wrap the wires. If I did burn the wires how hard is it going to be to fix? Looks like I could disconnect them and pull them to the top and have plenty of room to work but IDK. Anyone with any experience doing that?

Oh BTW that is not my car in the pic. It is my buddies, he had a good pic so I stole it lol.

Those wires in the pic have very little wiggle room so I doubt you can just disconnect them and pull them higher away from the headers (if that's what you're referring to)

I was talking about disconnecting them so I could pull that part of the harness up for easier access to repair them. I know when I plug them back in there will be very little room.

I'm not 100% sure but I'm assuming you can do what you mentioned. When I replaced the heater hose assembly recently, I didn't unplug anything electrical, just the plastic plugs that attach the harness to specific points on the frame. I think the hardest part will be reaching the plugs on the passenger side under the headers, where ever they may lead.

Repairing wires is pretty straight forward. You repair them like you replace spark plug wires... one at a time. If the integrity of the wire is still okay the best way to repair it is to disconnect it at the nearest wire connector and slip on some correct size heat shrink. If that isn't possible you could cut the wire, slip on a piece of heat shrink then twist the wires together then after soldering them you slip the heat shrink over the whole thing. If soldering isn't possible then do this...

If it's just the plastic loom and not the wire insulation that's burnt, you should be fine. But you definitely need to get more room between the wires and the headers!! I'd want at least 3" of clearence.

3 # inches of clearance is not going to happen lol. I will be lucky if I can just get it to not touch the header. I am going to wrap it in a fire sleeve so if it hits the header again it will not burn.

Yeah there's not much room to work with over there, headers on one side, heater hoses on another.
