bullet mufflers

i just had my duals put on with bullet mufflers. after hearing what everyone has had to say about how loud duals are, i was pissed. my exhaust is now quieter than my stock exhaust with a flowmaster. i told them i wanted 16" dynomax bullets, and instead they ordered 12" bullets. they're supposed to be dynomax....
does anyone know if dynomax even makes a 12" bullet, or did they bs me?
is it going to get louder over time?

Re: bullet mufflers

Dynomax makes a 12" and no way in hell is duals with bullets quieter than full stock exhaust with a flowmaster unless you haven't started it up yet.

Re: bullet mufflers

I run open exhaust and slapped on a 3,5" bullet. It's actually deeper, but a little smoother. By no means is it quiet. You dont have bullets. I had a 3" flowmaster cat-back on before and even a single bullet setup is noticeably louder. The reason it may seem quieter is it you didnt have a cat on before, and they slapped two non-high flow cats, and 16" bullets on there. Yes Dynomax makes 12" bullets. Also if you have true duals that go over the axels and 2 1/2"piping it could possibly be quieter.

Re: bullet mufflers

I have TRUE duals with 12" bullets. With that being said, the change in my console (in the cup holder) ALLWAYS rattles. It seems to me mine has acutually gotten quiter over time. Maybe I'm just getting used to it. Mine is alot louder now than it was stock.

Re: bullet mufflers

You are probably just getting used to it. My exhaust seemed quiet to me before i put on my bullet. It was an open Y pipe with no cat. The change rattled at idle, the GPS i have in the console rattles, the entire dash board rattles, somethign in the back rattles, the stupid e-brake button rattles (i crammed a penny in there), and it seems like everything on my car rattles. I love it.

Re: bullet mufflers

not they arent glasspacks. They just have a bunch of holes drilled in the metal. I'm not sure of the material on the inside, but it's not fiberglass. And they definately dont sound like glasspacks.

Re: bullet mufflers

thats good, i was looking at thrush a few days ago but was dissapointed to find they only make the glasspacks round nowadays .. i think im gonna go with an 18" 3 in/out for my dual setup, seen a few ppl complain its too loud but i think itll sound good if its not rediculously loud... as in louder than my 1200 watt jl audio system 0_0 .. but ill cross that bridge when i get there i guess, thanks for the reply so quick!

Re: bullet mufflers

My muffler fell off today so i thought i would take a pic. I U-clamped a 3.5"x16" Bullet muffler to my stock Y pipe to quiet it down. It was too big... Here is a pic of the inside of it though.

Re: bullet mufflers

Actually, the Dynomax bullet is a glasspack muffler with fiberglass packing.

"- Straight-through design for maximum exhaust flow and power.
-100% welded construction for maximum durability.
-100% aluminized materials for long life.
-Continuous Roving Fiberglass (CRF) technology for for maximum sound control.
-Flow any direction (unless stated). "

Re: bullet mufflers

The only time your car will get quieter is if you put on a quieter muffler or you spun a bearing and are losing hp.

Re: bullet mufflers

i have jet-hots and true duals out the back. i just cut them off becouse my new "special" baby 40's are comming in today. but the car sounds nearly the same without anything as it did with bullits. maybe a little better, but you cant beat the camed car with open headers.

Re: bullet mufflers

Yea they sound much better then glass packs. And are the best way to loose the noise without loosing power like most mufflers do. Glasspacks don't tend to last long, and are more raspy.

I bet 100 bucks your bullets are louder then your flowmaster at WOT though.
