Building a V6 into a 383...

I plan on buying a V6 Camaro soon and gutting it and rebuilding the car with a 383 stroker. I have a few drivetrain questions. First off does anyone know a good engine shop that has reliable forged 383's? I plan on putting a supercharger on it eventually. Next, will a tremmec T-56 withstand a 383 since they produce about 450hp and a supercharger on top of that? Lastly, would a 12 bolt stock rear from a newer z28 or SS be able to take the power?

Any help is appreciated. Im going to take my time building this car and not spare a cent.

People have reliably taken the T56 to about 800HP, and run into the 9's with it. Some upgrades may be needed to reach those levels.

The "newer Z28 or SS" will not have a 12-bolt rear. All 4th Gens got the same weak 10-bolts. Any aftermarket 12-bolt can be built to handle 800-1000HP.

Golen, Victory, or even Combination builds a pretty good short block.

If I were to attempt the swap you're talking about, I would look into an iron block 408 LS1 from one of the vendors.

i would agree if you are going to do all that work on a swap go all the way with a built LS1 over a 383.

Iron 408 LS1's have a soft spot in my heart. I have a blueprint for a 600fwhp/550ft/lb N/A 408 that we use pretty often. Production cnc ported heads and an LS6 manifold is all that is needed on that top end. With more exotic stuff comes more power.
