yeah, torque curve is a little different, and the HP rating is 265 as opposed to the F-bodys 275, but if you need one, and its a good price, get it, the iron heads flow better stock anyway

The torque rating is a little higher at a little lower RPM and what most people neglect is that was achieved with grandpa quiet intake and exhaust as well as 87 octane so don't think it is that far behind the f-body motor. It was just setup for a different purpose.
The shortblock is identical.

Re: buick roadmaster lt1

Cam in a B-body is a lot smaller then an F-body, I'm positive that a b-body makes more power then an F-body with the same cam and even just an FIPK kit on both cars, this is cuz iron heads flow a lot more and although they are lower compression, iron keeps combusion heat in making more power, so unless you're taking the f-body heads to the max ie. porting and adding more compression, I think a b-body would make more HP, but you can't pull the compresson up much higher on an iron head like you can with alluminium.

Check this article for the differences:

Compression ratios in that link are wrong. Aluminum headed LT1 has a 10.4:1 compression. Iron head LT1 has a 10:1 compression and L99 (265 ci) has a 9.4:1 compression.

Re: buick roadmaster lt1

I've seen the aluminum head LT1 compression ratio documented as both 10.4:1 and 10.5:1.
