I haven't been able to identify what exactly happened with my engine, but its clattering pretty bad at around 3K rpms, and when i lay on the floor it sounds louder from the bottom than the top, so i think its the bearing. I'll change the oil and cut open the oil filter to make sure this weekend. Either way, i'm already searching for options if it is the bearing. Can a 355 be built with ~1200? Thats about my budget right now and for the next couple months. I'll be doing all the work myself. I'm planning on letting a machine shop assemble the shortblock, and i'll take it from there. What type of costs am I looking at including everyting? I know about the summit rebuild kit, so theres ~500 there.

It sounds doable depending on whether or not the crank is messed up from the bad bearing.
