bucking z... a litlle help here, please

hey everyone,

I'm new here and have a problem with my 95 z. The car seems to buck a bit throughout the rpm band. What's weird is that it will buck then run strong and then start to buck again as i accelerate hard. It seems to be fine at crusing thottle, but under load, the prob arises. I changed the plugs, wires, fuel filter, etc.. less than a year ago. Could this be the opti I've heard so much about? The car is stock with 98k. Any suggestions, advice, or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

Very well could be the opti, but you should carefully look at or test plug wires and all connections at the coil to rule them out.

Also, you might check fuel pressure, and maybe bad injector... Just for thought...

check the fuel pressure first... Easiest to do and u can then narrow it down to just ignition... Then u can decide if u want to change the plugs, wires and opti at the same time or not.. Because its most likely a plug or the opti.

My dad is a professional mechanic (and drag racer) and my 96 Z was doing the same thing. He replaced the EGR valve, and the problem is gone. He thought it was plug wires at first but then he figured out it was the valve.

more suggestions = good. thanks to all. this is starting to remind me of my 86 tpi (the horror of it all). i spent two years trying to work all the bugs out, and in the end i coverted the motor to a carburated setup. at this rate, i can see myself doing so again in the near future. fuel injection sucks.
