broken water pump or just a gasket?

So as I was driving the other day I noticed the low coolant idiot light was on, and I dont understand why because I just checked the coolant and oil 3 days before. So when I park i noticed that coolant was dripping from the water pump. But it stopped after about 1/2 cup dripped out. I start the car back up and its fine, turn it off and it leeks another 1/2 cup.... apparently it only leaks when i turn the car off?

theres a picture of the leak.... Is it just a gasket or am i going to have to buy a new pump?

Cool

It's either the weep hole (which should be sealed now any way with an electric WP) or the seal between the electric pump and the housing. If it's a CSI, you may not have it notched correctly causing to not seal all the way.

And for the love of everything good, please shorten your sig to 5-7 lines

Remove your radiator cap. Turn on car. Do you see coolant flowing in a steady stream - if not test your pump could just be a loose connection. I'd still take off the housing and clean that up a bit and maybe reseal it just to be safe.

edit: nice car btw

ok so i found whare the actual leak is from, its coming from the hole on the bottom of the waterpump, there is one on the top also, coolant dosnt leak when car is running, but when i turn it off it does out of the hole, if i plug up the hole it comes out the hole on the top, its a meziere pump if that helps any. If i put water into my radiator when the car is off it comes out the holes still.

i updated the picture so the hole can be clearly seen.
the car seems to not have a problem staying cool as it stays at its normal 160 or lower. is there a problem with the internals of the pump, and if so can it be rebuilt or should i just buy a new one.

No. Even at full screen, it's like 12. Forum rules limit the sig to 5 lines.

I count 14 and I got my resolution up pretty high with a nice size screen, What computer are you running that you think all that is on 6 lines, is it a 50" monitor? Just show the basics, you don't have to tell everything in there! I've been to you brothers web site I'm sure he has room on there for you to go into more detail about your ride.
Good luck with the Pump though.

That is your sig might I suggest something like below, because there are a lot of people out there with smaller monitors and less resolution.
1997 Camaro SS: 383ci w/8.3:1,cam 225/234.9 560/536 lift 114lsa,1.6 Rockers,Stage 2 Heads w/62cc,2.00/1.57 Manley Race Valves,58mm TB,Sumped Fuel Tank,Siemens 72# lb. That gets pretty much everything you wanted to show, or at least what most people would want to see. And, it would never hurt to leave people guessing sometimes.

got it down to 3 lines , or is this still to much lol
so i pulled the pump and one of the o-rings broke, couldn't find a way to get it out so I used water pump gasket sealer... hopefully that works, if not is there a way to put new o-rings in these pumps or should I order a new one?

well the gasket sealer worked, pumps not leaking anymore and my low coolant light stays off , but since i took the wrong side of the water pump off first I spent about 30 mins using pinsize allen keys trying to hold the pins in position while I slid them back over the shaft... stupid me for taking that side off in the first place
now I'm hooking up relays to the fans so I can shut them off while I program the car.
