broke a bolt puttin opti on

broke a bolt puttin opti on

I was tightening the bolts for the opti and one of them snapped...can i just leave it or should i fix it.??94z

If it is for the cap I would replace it, you may get water and dirt into the opti. that would not be good.

no its the bolt that goes threw the timing cover to hold it down the other 2 bolts are fine!

No, do it the right way. Extract it and replace it.

That bolt takes a little less than 10 ft/lbs to tighten up (use blue loctite).. you don't have to superman it tight.

Also the possibility of an uneven clamping force could cause problems , sealing and otherwise.

You just lost 33.3% of the fasteners holding it on. I think not having one would be a significant risk.
Where's your torque wrench?
