Needless to say, I'm looking for a new set of springs to handle this cam reliably. What has everyone had luck with when running fast ramp rates and high lift? I'll be running the engine up to 6500 RPM.

Sorry, I thought that was obviously covered in the first post. I was looking for the problem. I am assuming that the problem he is implying was going with a BRE cam?

That is exactly what he was implying. 96capricemgr is helpful most of the time but rarely passes up the oppurtunity to rip Bret and Lloyd.

So being one that does not run a BRE cam, I am less likely to break my comp 918s? I really don't want to dig into this engine again. Btw, there are better ways to rip on individuals. I have noticed that gets done frequently and personally, I don't find it very useful. Thanks for the info otherwise!

Ask wrd1972 why he has tried so many springs this year and then changed cams.

I've had a BRE cam/top end, for about 3yrs. Only problem I've had was one of my CC lifters failed, somehow breaking an inner spring...back when I ran the CC 987. Now since then, I've changed to the 918's, and have been problem free, ever since..And yes, its been to 6500rpm many times.

Lets see.
Comp 918's busted. Comp admitted a bad batch.
PAC 1218's did not break but went soft due to float.
PSI beehives did not break but lacked enough seat pressure.

LE is no longer selling that cam or any of Bret's grinds for that matter. He provided me a replacement cam that better meets my expectations and reliablity requirements plus makes a considerable amount more power than the old cam. 412RWHP on what people call is a small cam is not too shabby.

LE never gave me the shaft or attempted to pass the buck. He took responsibility for the glitch, bent over back wards and offered endless assistance till the motor was running the way it should. He continues to remain in touch to make sure things are still going good. LE is knowledgeable, decent and honest and knows the product in and out. He goes to great lengths to ensure that all his customers are treated fairly.

No Lloyd has not bought me off. He simply made it right in the right way and addressed the glitches along the way in a professional way.

I've been running Comp 918's for 3.5 years with one of their 3000 series lobe profile cams. Even though I haven't had a problem. I am still reading of too many 918 failures.

I just ordered a set of Patriot Gold springs, hope to get them installed this weekend.

I think you got yours before they had all the problems with them
