bright baby blue sediment on the opti rotor, what is it?

looking through everything for why the car won't start, input from the wires to the IAT and the MAP from the ECM are showing broken, I am getting no spark at all either so I pulled the opti, it's two months old, there is bright baby blue buildup all over the rotor, and it's quite thick, all the pick ups have the sediment too, anybody know what this stuff is?

sounds normal. The spark that jumps from the rotor to each plug pole will cause small pits in the metal and some left over residue. As long as the arcing is only happening between the rotor and poles I would not be too worried. But if you see dis-colorization anywhere else on the inside of the cap then I would replace it. Actually I would replace it regardless, given the amount of work to get to the opti.

Check under the hood in that fuse box on the drivers side. In the #10 slot labeled "Engine Sensors" with a 20amp fuse. Check and see if it is blown..

there doesn't seem to be any pits or anything, just this thick powdery stuff on the pick ups and on the rotor itself, it's bright bright blue, like the color of internet explorers browser blue, the fuses are fine, I pulled it because of a high resolution failure accompanied by no spark, engine just cranks, the service manual says if there is no start with a high resolution failure to assume it's something else in the opti, the opti looks perfect except for this bright blue stuff, the inside of the cap is also tinged a blue color.

Here's what's going on. The spark is vaporizing elements in the air as it shoots through. Depending on what elements are in the air, you'll get different colors.

I've worked around vacuum melting in a foundry, and things like the humidity and the temperature we release the vacuum at affect the color of the mold when it comes out.

It could be as simple as the plastic in the opti is releasing some mold release, or solvent used in manufacture. And when the spark shoots through it, blue. Does the epoxy part of the opti show any signs that it's fractured or pinholed? That's another source of weird chemicals to vaproize

Do you have a vented optispark and an oil/gauze air filter? Could be deposits from the oil in that filter. Which would probably render an opti useless. Good luck

It's a vented opti, but it's capped, so no oils can come in, guess I'll pop it back on, fix the wires and move on.
