Breaking up at High RPMs
Breaking up at High RPMs
After the Long tube install... the car feels to be breaking up at High rpms's it's really bad in 1st gear... you can feel it in all the gears really... as soon as you stomp on it... the needle will go smooth to about 4.5K then the car will start breaking up and make a choppy kind of sound. Then at about 5K or so the car will get smooth again. It feels worse if you downshift into forth nad stop the pedal. It breaks up around 4K and gets choppy until 5K and then it's smooth again. What might be going on?
I should also say this only happens when you really push the pedal down.
Whe nyou eaaase into the rpms it doesn't break up. Just when you push it down hard as if your racing. Which is still very bad.

Re: Breaking up at High RPMs
Another vote for checking the wires. Look for arcing around the plugs with the motor running in the dark. Any chance you have an exhaust leak at the manifold (loud tapping noise)?
Re: Breaking up at High RPMs
plug wire time. use boots or go with thick insulation. and remember, the spark is looking for the easiest path to ground, and if that means going through the opti due to a bad plug or wire, it will.

This is a protective sleeve that is added in the building process of the ignition wire which extends all the way down into the boot .... This is not something we simply slip on after the wire is made.
Please check out our web site click here
or check this out for a close up shot and you can see the quality we build into our custom wire sets.
