Bolts for Hooker Long tubes...

Alright...well my engine is done...and should be shipping and need to get the final little things bought. What bolts are you guys using on your Jet Hot Hooker Long tubes? I had some ARP's but they mate right against the header manifold...do the make some spacers that will help move the head back a bit?

Thanks
James

I just used the bolts that came with the headers. Haven't had any problems or leaks.

I'm using stage 8 locking header bolts. I don't see why you'd want a spacer in there? I think it would actually make it harder to get at some of the bolts.

Yes I am talking about the header bolts...They are a pain in the *** to get at now and if the heads were sticking out a bit more it would be easier to get too I would think...And yes...the do make spacers for it and they work just fine...just seeing if any guys using these same headers use them?

Thanks

The spacers are actually to convert from the small block style bolt pattern with six bolts per side to the 7 bolts per side. You dont need them. I'm using the 3/4" ARP stainless hex bolts without any issues.

Re: Bolts for Hooker Long tubes...

I use the 3/8" x .750" ARP 12-point bolts, and an old 3/8" box wrench that I ground down around the outside. It's fairly thin and looks fragile but it works. I also bent it 90 degrees to give me more reach-around.

It also helps to start all the bolts 1 or 2 threads and tighten them down gradually. If the flange is up against the head there's no way to get a couple of them in.
