Bolt on dyno finally

Been a year and a half but here it is. Still needs tuning tune is pcm for less **** tune or hypertech can't remember what wad on this cpu.

Stock block, untouched intake, stock heads, never had valve covers off.
Full exaust
Knn cold air intake, stock tb.
tb airfoil
Full msd ignition, hypertech coil. 6a msd box e3s
ele water pump stock radiator.
Fidanza aluminum flywheel.
Ati dampner with built in underdrive
Pullys all gone sept for alternator.
mcloud stage 2 clutch
This was done with 80s heat and no tuning....notice dyno starts late and ends early at 5300. Needs a much better tune unknown afr and timing just threw ln on parts and did 2 pulls. Not the maf caused first pull issues was unplugged for second pull which is much smoother. Was bogging bag with maf. Maf is stock with maf ends from fast toys. Was not tuned for them. I think with a good tune could see 20 more but let me know and going to 6k would be nice to.

Good results for the limited mods. And you're probably leaving a lot on the table with either of those tunes.

The fact that the temperature was “80’s heat” is factored into the dyno numbers, as is barometric pressure and (most likely) humidity. At the bottom of the sheet it indicates “CF: SAE 1.03”. That indicates the Society of Automotive Engineers correction was used, and as a result the HP and torque had 3% added. SAE corrects to 77°F, 29.23”Hg, 0% humidity. Make sure they use SAE in all dyno pulls, so the charts can be correctly compared to one another in the future. The alternative correct would be STD (standard) which produces about 4% lower results.

Yes sir thank you....also we had the maf disconnected for the second pull. I have maf ends from fast toys that open it up and there not tuned so the second smoother run was done with the maf unplugged. All in all when I get it running right and a new tune what do you think is left in it?

Re: Bolt on dyno finally

Once you pull the MAF, the PCM defaults to speed-density. I doubt the Hypertech or pcmforless tunes fully addressed speed-density in the tune with updated volumetric efficiency.

Seems like an excessive impact for the MAF to cause "bogging bad". Does the MAF still have a screen on the inlet? I don't see why changing the ends would cause anything other that a slight miscalibration, which would be taken care of in the PCM by the long term fuel corrections. Taking the screen out causes the issues. I would try sticking a healthy STOCK MAF with screen in there and see if the bogging goes away.

Is it possible you have an air leak in the 90-degree elbow (whatever the "K&N intake with elbow" is)? That would be corrected by switching from MAF to speed-density.0

It has fast toys maf ends on it. The maf is a brand new unit from autozone. It boggs really hard when driving it on the street. It was not tuned for the screens being deleted. Thats why im thinking with a tune, hence program the maf correctly and get af and timing right should be more in her. Fast toys makes the maf ends.

I guess you don’t agree with my analysis. Best I could do.

Not what i was saying even though i kind of did. Ill go down and get a stock maf, but the only ones i seem to find are the ones at part stores and they are off brands like autozone duralast ext. Where would i obtain a real stock one? Thanks Fred i know you know your **** and i would never say you don't ive been following alot of post on here and your advice and knowledge is always top notch second to none.

Re: Bolt on dyno finally

No idea where to get a new GM stocker with the original LT1 part #. But check Shoebox for the latest part #. They replaced the original part # with one that works on both the LT1 and LS1.

Do you not have the stock “ends”, with screen that you took off the sensor? If you don't, try and find a used unit on eBay, or something. If all else fails I'll send you the OEM off my 94 Formula (I think I know where it is in the garage). Was still screened and working 24 years ago when I switched to an aftermarket engine management system, running speed-density. Seemed like the best way to run a huge dry nitrous build making 762 HP.
