granitelli is it pointless?
i'm getting rid of the stock maf that i probably destroyed while porting it and replacing with a granitelli that i got for 90 shipped.
also madtunz (i think is the name) is this pointless with my current set up and how much of a gain would i expect from the granitelli, or the madtunz

Make sure you tell Ion that you have the grantnelli MAF when you get the tune. The stock MAF would be fine but since you needed one then use it. Just make sure the tune is proper for it.

If you messed up your old mas aif flow sensor then yeah its worth it. MadZ28 PCM tune can give you more hp, I think 10 to 17hp over stock. So yes to both If you were replacing a good MAF then no not worth it.

I have tested cars on the dyno (400+ RWHP) with big heads and cams and the stocker was not a restriction. Granatelli is a mass airflow sensor that was intended to trick the PCM into thinking the car is getting less air so that it dumps less fuel, therefore leaning the WOT curve and gaining a few HP that way, not because it's less of a restriction. That sensor will only complicate things on modded cars.

You calculate how much cfm's your engine needs. Then based off the area of the MAF you figure how many cfm's can pass through. Just like you would a throttle body (48mm,52mm,58mm or mono). You just subtract the metal peice from your calculations for the stocker. There's also data online where people have flow benched them.
For a stock or bolt on car the stock maf is fine. I can't remember the exact # but I believe it was around 750-850cfms for the stocker. I'll check when I get home tonight.

With a dyno tune which should compensate for the calibration of the MAF
the GMS MAF was worth 1rwhp/3rwtq for me. Not really enough to even
consider, or probably valid as a data point. I got it cheap and like it, but

A 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut off would flow more air too, doesn't mean it will make more power.

I just calculated the flow # in cfm, I don't know how to calculate for pressure losses? I guess you could test it w/ equipment right? If you had something hooked up befor and after the maf senser? Can you calculate it analytically?
