Bogging engine/power loss

the other day I started my car on a cold morning, and waited for it to warm up. After a while, the rpm at idle started to dip a little below 1k, which isn't really normal, so I gave it a quick tap on the throttle, and the motor bogged and nearly died. I waited till it stabilized and applied a slow, steady amount of gas and it revved normally. So I drove it and it was fine. Yesterday I was driving on the freeway and downshifted to 5th to accellerate, and it bogged in much the same way, barely accellerating at all.

I'm not sure what this is a symptom of. It drove fine all day today. Someone please help!

Could be a clogged cat. Is it the original?

You should be ok with your Cat unless you have done a lot of performance upgrades to your car. Have you checked the obvious such as burnt or arching plug wire? How about changing the fuel filter. It definitely sounds like either a restriction in the fuel delivery or maaaybe a clogged cat. Check for fuel pressure first then go from there. Another possibility is a dying throttle position sensor. Its almost like ESP for a vehicle. It allows the computer to get ready for the upcoming fuel demand. When they go bad you will get a steady rev but will bog under a quick jolt to the gas pedal. I hate to jump out and say this but it could also be a failing opti. Check fuel pressure first.... Good Luck
