BMR SFC, Tube or Box?

I would like to go with the stonger box type, but wonder if they will be noticeable on my 97SS? It isn't lowered and they reduce clearance by 3/4". Is this anything to be concerned about?

Thanks.

If you want the strength you can't beat the boxed SFCs. You do lose the 3/4" clearance, if you aren't lowered and don't plan on it, I don't see it being any immediate issue. You don't offroad with it, right?

Are the boxed ones noticeable? I hate mess up the profile with unsightly hangdowns.

Thanks.

If you want ones that are undetectable then go with BMR tubular. Mine tuck up under the car and the pinch weld seam on the rocker hides almost all of them and since they are black they blend right in. Somebody was selling them in the for sale i think for 100 if i remember right.

just get the black boxed ones, they should blend in with the dark underbody.

i've seen red ones on an SS, and you could see them from normal standing position a few feet away i think. i'm gonna get red boxed, i don't mind if people notice them...lol

The tubular SFCs will still make a noticeable difference and u won't suffer any loss of ground clearance. I think they are definitely worthwhile and i believe they are cheaper then the boxed type.

I'd go with the tubular, I've seen the boxed and they're very noticable. I don't like them at all, but if you must get them make sure you get them in black.

you can definitely see my boxed black set. in fact you can read the BMR sticker on the side of them if walking up to my car so id say most of the bar is noticable. tubular on the other hand cannot be see AT ALL.

I have a black camaro and am planning on getting red boxed soon. I think that if you keep them clean, the red looks kinda cool going from the front to back on each side. Just my opinion!

Guess I'll be going with the BMR tubular, in black. My car is black too.

I here that they make a difference. I have a T-Top and hope it reduces the flex and doesn't compromise the ride.

May even give me a bit better traction, although with M-6, 4.10s and probablly around 355 RWHP, I'll likely need more than SFCs.

What am I looking at as far as cost to weld on?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Looks like the best place to have them welded will be a reputable Muffler Shop. Think I'll insist on the top welder. Doubt that it will cost more than around $75.00.

Believe that Muffler Shops spend more time under cars than anyone else and do lots of welding.

Just don't want a crappy welding job. I hate slopply welding. I wonder if they have laser welding for this sort of stuff. Seems like it would be easier to do a nice smooth, strong weld. Somehow I doubt that a Muffler Shop would have such a machine, but what the hell, I can always look around.

Thanks again.

You can usually get your dad or your grandad, best friend, etc to do it for a 6pack. Assuming you know someone with a welder.

SFC Questions...

Hey guys, I just bought some BMR boxed red SFCs, and I have a few questions myself. I know that the car must be lifted on it's wheels, and not on the jack points.

Where exactly do they weld to? Is there any way I can prevent rust on my SFCs at the welding point?

Also, has anyone experienced "the clunk" as described in the BMR instructions? Any other tips or recommendations I should know of?

I am looking forward to having the bright red SFCs show. I think I will paint my calipers red to match them afterwards

Thanks guys!

I kinda like it if you can see the SFC standing near a car as long as the color of the SFC goes with the color of the car (green car with red SFC, black car w/ red SFC, etc).
