LT1 To 383 Stroker

I was thinking of replacing my LT-1 with a 383 stroker when it wears out. I just read that a stroker is not street legal, is this true? And also, i got a dumb question, which kit should you purchase, the long block or the short block?

Thanks

if it is illegal there will be no way for anyone to tell without taring the whole engine apart. if i were you do a stroker i probably wouldent buy a kit i would have my short block built at a shop then i would get my heads ported and go from there but it would probably be easier to just buy a long block and trade your core in

Well, a cam, no cats or longtube headers are "illegal" but everyone does them. What are the intentions of your car? Street/strip? All out drag car? Corner-carver?

I agree with the above post just have your existing 350 LT1 stroked. Take your engine to a machine shop and they will do all the tests to ensure the block is suffice for a stroker. You can have the block stroked will the heads are being ported.
