Angry Blue smoke now...

Well, the 383 is finally showing some color and I don't know what to do now It has 4k miles on it and on start up, little blips and idle when cold, blue smoke is in the exhaust as well as at WOT. Another note is that I added 1/2 quart of oil today after an oil change less than 500 miles ago. The engine was professionally built and I gave it at least an 800 mile break in before I "tested" the stroker out. Any suggestions on what could b causing this? I wanted your opinions first before calling the engine guy...thanks everyone!

Most High performance engines are built with some clearance which passes a little oil which in turn makes a little smoke and burns a little oil. If your stroker were built to tight it would seize up and smoke all the bearings and scar the cylinders from the piston being to tight in th bore. My 355 was built to run n20 so we put a .020 ring gap so it burns a little oil and smokes a little too but it's been running hard for over a year over 15kmi. and alot of bottles thru it. So if you want it to run like a stock car it can get away with no smoke

I have the same with my new motor. Burning to much oil for my liking and it did not burn like this after the first re-build. It seems to nbe at its worst after it has sat and idled for a few seconds. If I stop and hop out of the car, its not to bad, but as it sits there ideling it gets worse.

I too have about 500 - 600 miles on it and I'm told that I might just have to be more patient.

I'm crossing my fingers.

dont worry ryan, its just because your slow

but dont sweat, jensen built my dad vette engine to and it smokes a lil, but mostly due to the notorious SBC valve guides.

better use that big 383 while you still could...haha

Still use the big 383 for what? It doesnt go anywhere...first the 2800 10" TC eats up some torque, then the sh***y 4L60E eats some more and if any is left over the 2.73s will take care of any power that the engine is making But thanks everyone for your replies, Im a little more relieved
