blue smoke comming from exhaust?

More than likely he saw fuel smoke.

Thats what I was told.

I also hear that higher milage lt1's are known to run into valve seal issues.

My car puffs out a big plume of blue smoke when i first start it. When I first take off from a light it does it too. When the car is in park, and if I raise the rpms up it wont do it, but right when i let off the pedal, you see a little smoke. When Im at the drag strip racing, I dont blow smoke though. so my guess is mine is valve seals.

But I also bent a valve several years back. And its possible that the shop didn't install the valve seal correctly, or there was damage to the valve guide. Cause they never replaced the guide.

I believe valve seal issues would be aproblem with any high-midleage engine.

Yes, it is very possible to be a result of the mechanic who put the new valves in for you. Always do it yourself.
