Question blue smoke

Well, my car has been sitting since November, and today I decided to start it up and warm the motor up to full temperature. I started it and everything was cool. After a minute or two of running, and pegged on the gas a little, and some blue smoke shot out the back. I got out of my car, and looked at it until it cleared away. I went back the car, and reved it again. Now their wasn't any blue smoke. I let the car warm up, and reved it several times and their was no blue smoke now, and everything was normal. Why did it burn some oil the first time I reved it? Is it because it was sitting, or is my motor time for a rebuild? Kinda makes me depressed. It has around 90k.

Don't worry about it, most likely had some puddled oil in the cylinders from sitting for two months. Unless it does it every time you start the car, it's no big deal. Even then, its just valve stem seals which start to go on higher milliage cars

Re: blue smoke

its nothing major, setting for that long allowed the remaining oil on the valvestems to seep past the seal and rest(puddle)on the piston(s)as soon as you got it running the seals will swell up.if you get another set of heads and have them done up with the better seals, springs and some portwork you will have a sweet runnin lt1,an engine rebuild is prolly unnessisary at this time

I mean, the car as been started up within those few months just to move the car around. This is the first time though that I let it warm up fully, and reved it up. Me and my dad have been doing some body work, and stripes, so thats why we have been moving it around a little bit. I think im becoming paranoid about this car.. lol

Valve stem Seals. Replace them and it will be like brand new again. I've done it to several cars (Fords mostly) Always the same. When the car begins to shoot a tiny puff of smoke everytime you take off from a stop light then the seals will be completely shot and in need to be changed quickly. I have seen it take about a year before it begins to do that. The thing about the seals is that they will let oil cake on the exhaust valve and choke the Exhaust eventually.

You can do the job yourself. No need to rush.... in your case sounds so minimal... I woulndt worry about it. Ohh the oil maybe sipping from somewhere else too... like the Passenger side valve cover hose that returns to the Throttle body.... if thats the case I wouldnt worry about it too much for now.
