Blocking off the back of the Intake Manifold?

I have the back of my intake manifold blocked off right now (EGR holes) I was just thinking... I don't even need plates on there do I? Those don't actually go into the intake do they? So if nothing is going into both holes then it shouldn't matter

if you dont block them off then youll open up a fairly large vacuum leak.

yes they do go into the intake the EGR allows passage of exhaust gas into the intake manifold.....
you need to block those holes off.....

I orginally thought that they did that's why they are blocked off.. But I saw somewhere where someone was saying that it didn't matter or some crap... Can't remember where I saw it cause at the time I just assumed it was B.S. but after looking at the intake it almost appeared that they didn't go into the intake...
