Blocking the EGR and questions on performance?

I found out last night that all my runs since port and polishing my LT4 intake and adding a AS&M 58mm TB. Havent ment anything. Ive been running with a huge intake leak at the back of the intake!

My stock EGR valve had lost one of the 13mm nuts and the other one had almost fallen off too. So needless to say vacume leaks are not a motor's best friend.

How much can a massive vacume leak effect 1/4 mile performance. It seems as if a car would run really LEAN with the extra air comming in that the MAF does not read.

How do I block off the EGR? Is there a kit from DAL?

What do i do with the open vacume line on the thing that the EGR valve's vacume line goes too?

What about programming? Do i need to turn off the EGR in the CPU? I assume so.

Is there anything else I need to know?

LT4 EGR block-off plate GM p/n 10054880.

Plug the fitting with a rubber vacuum cap or remove the fitting from the manifold and put a pipe plug in it.

Since the factory LT4 did not use an EGR valve, you will probably be ok. You may or may not set a code, but if you do, you can shut off monitoring of the code with the programming.

The more i look into it im better off just betting a new EGR Valve. Because id still need to block off the other EGR port and the hole on my passenger side header.

Can i use the LT4 EGR block plate to block off my EGR? I can just leave the valve attached right? As long as i just put a plate on the back of the intake where the tube is comeing out of and program the EGR out of the computer i should be fine. Is this correct?

Also if i'm just cruising and my EGR is not blocked off and the tube that runs to the back of my intake is just open will i be able to smell fumes comeing from there? Because my car really smells bad when i'm at a stop and while cruising.

You can't leave the pipe hanging open. It's like a big exhaust leak.

So the pipe that is hanging from the back of the intake is that sucking in air or is it letting out air? Also would this cause my really rich condition?
