Block drain plug won't go all the way in

I was putting the block drain plug and I can see one thread still. Its not fully touching the block. I've tightened it as far as possible, but it won't go anymore. Is this ok, or is there somethign wrong? Will coolan drain out of that hole if its not fully in?

It should not go all the way in. It is a tapered plug. It should only be tightened enough to where it does not leak.

Are you familiar with pipe thread. You've already screwed it in WAY farther than necessary.

Simply put pipe threads[as are the block drain plugs
are tapered, designed to get TIGHTER the farther in you thread it..
Just snugging it with a little teflon tape etc is good..
You risk cracking the casting[ though I doubt you would crack the side of the engine block..] by 'overtightening'..
