I did't built my engine.
i had valve floating whe used the cam at my sign and destoyed some rockers, lifters and bend some push rods, later return to stock cam.
thanks for all the input I will check all this points in the next rebuild.

I can almost guarantee that the damage was not because of valve float. It was because the piston was installed backwards and the valves had no where to go when they were open and the piston was at TDC. You can see the marks on the piston where the valves made their own reliefs. Put the pistons in correctly and put your old cam back in and see how it runs.

Also, sue your engine builder for incompetent work.

I'm sorry to hear about the breakdown man
Good luck with the rebuild, hopefully it will go smoother next time around.

Yes, the small marks on top are from the valves hitting the piston, the mark on the bottom is from the rod caused by the piston top collapse after detonation.

I apreciate all your input, I'm learning alot, in the expensive way.
I still want more comments about replacing the injectors with stock tuning.....
thanks

Ok, to clear up the mess with the injectors, the car will run rich as hell with 50# tuned for 24# (stock) injectors. You'll need the injector constant turned up in the program to get it right again.

I can't believe that you're not extremely pissed about this. If that was my motor, I would have already been to the engine builder's house and told him that he was paying for a new motor and all of the rockers, lifters, and valves that were damaged before. You didn't learn the lesson because it wasn't your fault and it shouldn't cost you (unless the injector did stop spraying).

Are you positive the injector stopped spraying? If you're just assuming it because of what happened to the piston, then this is probably all your engine builder's fault.

Another thing, were you spraying a dry shot with stock injectors?? If you're using a wet shot, the injectors don't do any work.

If you put 50# injectors in the car which is set up for 24# injectors, the car will run so rich that the PCM will not be able to adjust for it and you will flood the crap out of it, foul the plugs, wash down the cylinders, dilute the oil, & wreck the cat if you have one. You will also get terrible mileage if it is even driveable up to the point that the bearings give out from the gas in the oil

Glad you asked?

Guys remember he's in MEXICO too, so this is probably not his first language.

Either way I think we found the major problems that caused this.

Why does it matter where he is from...why even bring that into the conversation? I didn't expect to see insinuations like that on this board.

I think you may have misunderstood what Bret meant.
He was trying to give others who didn't observe the possibility for a language barrier a heads up.
Bret is a good guy. After reading about every single post he has ever written I can honestly say that he is one of the last people that would make an insulting comment due to a person origin.

Now on the other hand giving blatantly bad info may get you a kick in the butt from Bret.

Well if I was going to say something bad I wouldn't put it in WRITING!!!!

Yeah he could have a language barrier issue that was the point.

screw that. Anyone building a 396 LT1 should have some clue of what they are doing.

I build my own stuff, but other people need to know who to keep theirs away from...
