bleeding system w/radiator cap off: open bleeder screws and radiator level overflows?

WTF?? I am trying to bleed the cooling system with the radiator cap off, so I can watch the level of it. When I open either bleeder screw, nothing comes out and the coolant level in the radiator comes up very quickly and spills out unless I close the bleeder screw. Just as soon as I close the screw the level drops agian. What the hell is happening here

Maybe it won't bleed correctly unless the radiator cap is on?? It seems like the bleeding process would work better with the cap on and the system pressurized, but someone told me to try it with the cap off.

Oh well, time to try with the cap on.

you're supposed to have the cap on. you cannot bleed nothin with all the pressure coming out the top.
the reverse cooling system will throw up the coolant quick. you gotta fill it up through the plastic resevoir.
what i do.....is put in as much water as you can in the radiator and let the engine get to operating temp......then when it starts throwin up, cap it, open the bleeders until liquid comes out, close them, then fill resevoir. works every time. stays at 160 degrees.

you cant check the level thru the cap like conventional radiators. if you check your resevoir........it has a plastic dip stick attached to the cap that allows you to check for proper coolant level.

New thermostat...... new radiator cap....... flush and refill/bleed...... cooling fans come on....... no white smoke from exhaust.........

It's either a bad water pump or a bad blockage in the system somewhere. God I hate this car..........
