The past two days my oil pressure has stayed really high. It stays at 60. The needle will move around a bit but it stays right around 60. Only after a 15 or 20 mile drive, when I come to a complete stop will it return to normal. The next time I drive the car, it does the same thing. I haven't changed anything and it is the same oil and filter for the past 1400 miles.

Why would the oil pressure stay that high? Could the sensor be wrong?

 

what weight oil are you running?

 

15w 50.....same as the car has seen since day one. I last changed the oil about a 1500 miles ago after my head/cam swap.

 

its the colder weather!haha
the colder the oil, the more dense it is which causes high pressure. when the engine warms up, it should drop about 20 psi. 60 psi is fine. my LT1 goes to 60 when the motor is over 1500rpm.
