Re: Biggest cam for daily driver??????????

I was going to avoid responding to this post because opinions of a
daily driver cam are so varied it's impossible to have a discussion. To
clarify a bit more, for me a daily driver is a car that is driven daily in
rush hour traffic, in California, and also must pass smog.

With that, the CC503 and GM 846 are the absolute most you can go.
You may still have some drivability issues, but with the right tuning
and everything else working, you should pass smog. I'm daily driving
a baby Crane 227 and there is no way someone is going to tell me that
a CC306 is a daily driver. I had a RAIV cam in my 68 GTO, which has
very similar specs to the 306, plus a 3000 stall converter and 3:73s
and there is no way I would have considered it a daily driver.

Gotta remember fuel injection makes a bigger cam more liveable than a carbed motor

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have the cam installed because he asked yesterday what springs and rockers to buy. Two days ago he asked how much power a certain setup would make. Do a search on threads started by this guy and have a good laugh. If you're like me you'll quit responding to him.

Dang. You ain't kidding. He's been asking the same confused questions for a year now.

Going back through them I recognize a lot of those threads, but never realized they were all the same person.

BadCamaro, you've been here at least a year. Have you read any of the threads on heads, cams, engine building, anything in that time?

I think he might have his mods... I just don't think he is the one installign them, and that's why he's unfamiliar with his car, and the parts.

Re: Biggest cam for daily driver??????????

I had a 236/242 @ .050; .579/.576 lift on a 110lsa, with long tubes, 3.42s in the rear, MadZ28 tune, stock heads, and M6. It ran fine.... I actually wished I went with a bigger cam.

I am pretty sure Madwolf was in the 350's rwhp with stock heads and bolt on's with his XE 233/239.

My Sig is very old, I had some faulty valve springs when i dynoed (not strong enough), and also my heads are home ported not much better than stock. With the new valve springs and the new duals im prolly well over 400. I have run some 400+ cars and stayed with them outrunning some. Note these were ls1 cars, which are much lighter. I am at full weight plus some added weight most of them are on 15's with reduction yet im still winning. So i figure im out to about 400-415 now.

FWIW, I remember this guy from a while ago and I think that English is a second language for him and he is learning both English and modding....I guess we should take it easy on him...Leave the 306 and save for porting the heads...

That is a custom cam right? I want to replace my CC306 in my 357, I want something in the 24x/24x range too. How does your car drive with that big thing? Any power #'s? Thanks!
