best transmission for 525 hp?

It would be better to do the built 400 and GV unit setup, if you can afford it. A well-built 400 can be around $1500 and the GV about $2k. You can't possibly kill this combo with under 700hp. And it should be able to take beatings for far longer than the 4L60 before rebuild time comes around.
The GV and 400 will give you 6 gears, actually. Hmmm, a 6-speed auto.... sounds good to me!
