best transmission for 525 hp?
best transmission for 525 hp?
Is there a good way to make the 4L60E hold up to a constant 425 and every once in awhile hit the juice? I would go with a turbo 400 (or something in that range) but id love to keep my OD for those shot trips. thanks guys
Don't know much about the new 4l60e but yeah... the TH350 or 400 is more than up to the task. There are also quite a number of beefed up 2004R and 700R4 trannies out there hanging in at the proposed power level.
Then again... we talking RWHP or flywheel... big difference.

mine doesn't have a problem thus far- only 5000 miles though.
i'm guessing i'm at 400hp. When i add heads i should be around 500
this is all flywheel of coarse.
built 4L60E-
its very important to cool it! i am going to upgrade to a remote tranny cooler somewhere. i am going to get creative
A deeper pan as well

Just so you know im talking about RWHP. A 396 with a few goodies
anyways, would i be better off trying to build a 700r4 over the 4L60E? i acyually thought the 4l60e was a better built transmission. oh well anyways, thanks for the replys

Assuming you have a good rearend go to this web site.
http://www.converter.cc/high_perform...nsmissions.htm
Very interesting.
Don't forget to dump the 7.5inch rear if you have one.

Im building a 9" right now so i dont think that will be a problem. Would i just be better off going with a 400 3 spd instead of spending 3000 to 4000 bucks? I dont know if i can put that much into a tranny. I looked at lt1dave.com and he had a pretty good build up of my stock trans for a grand but im hearing it wont last very long.even with only 500 horse? thaks again for the replys

Try www.ls1speed.com they have 3 levels of trannies. You get a new Tranny plus $600 for your old one.
