Best street tires?

well i was going to get my wheels widened and get some 315/35/17's, but on the way to the track one of my drag radials blew tonight......what street tires does everyone recommend?...i guess i'm going to go with either 285/40/17, or back to 275's for now....what tire is the best?...and what kind of mileage can i expect from them?

Several of the most popular are:
BFG G-Force KD/KDW/KDWS
Firestone Firehawks SZ50
Bridgestone Potenza RE730
Kuhma Ecsta 712

Do a search on this board, you'll get tons of info and opinions.

I would reccomend the Firehawk Sz 50-EP's. Great dry weather traction and the best wet weather traction available. I had the Dunlop Sp5000's before they weren't even close to as good as these tires. I am not sure if they make the Firehawks in that size though. This is the 1st time I have ever had a set of tires last over a year, great tread life. Pics of them in my sig

You can go with the Nitto 555's. They are listed as DR's but do really well on the street. They dont wear down as fast as a BFG would either.

You could get a 275 in these and they would hook better than a regular 315 street tire.

I just brought home some 275/40ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza RE730 Gen 2's... they look meannnnnn! I was surprised.

They feel on the sticky side and definitely at least LOOK like they get the job done! Also, they tend to get good reviews so I bought them Lots of tread, compound feels good. Another thumbs down on the Dunlop SP5000 btw.

Hope this helps,
JR

Dittos for Mich Pilots. Mine have lasted over 30,000 and grip like crazy. Actually hard to spin them. Good in rain, not fantastic. Quiet. Just now as they are at the wear inicators are they spinning.
