The Advance Auto in my area had the Hooker cat back for $253... It had to be shipped from their warehouse which would take a day but there wasn't a charge... Might want to check into that if you have an Advance there... I ended up buying just the aerochamber muffler and it has a great tone to it when you get on the gas

When I purchased my car it unknowingly had a gutted cat on it. The car passed emmissions though and I had no idea it was gutted until my header install when it was noticed the cat was hollow. I reassembled the car with a functioning cat. Audibly the car is noticeably quiter, and I cant really quote the performance because I made the header upgrade at the same time.

Based on what I've seen on the board, gutting the cat is only worth around 5hp max, more than often less than that. Modern cats flow pretty well. The gain is nothing really noticeable. Id just reccomend if anything welding in an offroad pipe because that way, if you ever did happen to need your cat again, you wont have to spend the extra money replacing it.

Might consider gutting and then running a pipe through the convertor, gutted cats cause lots of turbulence in the exhaust,

Just put magnaflow on my 95 Z about a week ago and love it. Magnaflow has a stainless steel muffler and two 3.5" tips. Looks awesome and sounds great at WOT. Not that much difference than stock at idle but has an awesome roar when you rev it.

ok, i have decided on hooker, i am buying it next week. but what i am unclear of is how does the exhaust go from 2.5in piping which is stock to a 3? if thats not the right size let me know. do they gradually go up to 3 or how is it done?
thx rob

I'm sure your hooker catback will come with a clamp for the end of the 3" pipe and the 2 1/2" slides inside of it. Just tighten the clamp down

For the money.. anyone who has heard the 2OTL in person would agree that it sounds the best.

IMO GMMG has THE best sounding exhaust.. but you pay for it.

I LOVE the sound of my 2OTL.. I haven't heard a car around here that even sounds comparable. But even though it sounds great... you sacrifice because it doesn't LOOK so good...

I've heard good things about Magnaflow

I've heard a hooker and it sounds nice.. but just because it's not stainless.. I wouldn't buy it.

Yes, the 2otl does sound very nice. Thing I don't like is the 2 tips on the left haha. Its very quiet also tho. Magnaflow has a similar sound IMO. Wouldn't buy hooker cuz its not stainless. You get hooker for around 250, and magnaflow off ebay for like 270 tops. I would much rather pay 20 more for stainless.
