Best Pressure for Street Tires
Best Pressure for Street Tires
hey there, at the track I go to I don't have time to make many runs, maybe I could pull off 6 runs or so. 60' is 2.3x-2.4x right now. I'm using 30psi all around for the street on Kumho 235/55/16 716 HP4's. I just want to know how much tire pressure I should run in the front and back. I was thinking maybe 35psi front/ 20psi rear? Does that sound like a good place to start? Thanks in advance for the help.
at 20psi in street tires its probably going to start cupping bad. Best way to know:
go do a rolling burnout. Take a look at the rubber the tires left on the pavement, and see if the patch is even all the way across. if the middle is darker than the sides, you have too much pressure. If the sides are darker than the middle, you don't have enough pressure and the tires are cupping (if you've ever seen a deflated slick you know what this looks like)

I run 35 all the way around but I don't run on the track either. At least not yet. If your going for traction then find a pressure that works good, but for everyday driving you can put a 1" wide chalk mark across the width of your tread and roll your car a few(more than 10) feet to see where it wears off. If it is even, then you have the right pressure. Do this on one front and one back tire.

is 35 psi front about right? The more pressure up front, the better?
