best muffler to go with

I just got my 93 z and it is a little to quiet for me. I like the loud roar of the engine and making people know i'm coming. I want to put an exhaust system on, but don't have that kind of money. I decided if i were to put an exhaust system on, i would wait and do it right and go with borla or slp. I was thinking of maybe just putting a muffler on for now. Which muffler is the best for my car and will make it louder at idle and accelerating, but quiet when cruising.

A majority of people go with Flowmaster if they just want a muffler.

Flowmast is a popular choice but a lot of people don't like the loud droaning noise it makes. It also does "flow" that great either. I would suggest a Dynomax Super Turbo. The are slightly louder at idle or while cruising on the highway. You can have a normal conversation within the car on the highway and not have to yell, but yet when you open it up its quite loud. Also, its not raspy or hollow sounding at all, just a nice mellow rumble and a good price too. I think its one of the best cheap mufflers a person can get.

If you're looking for a direct replacement, go with the 80 series. I have a sound clip on my webpage.

i'm pretty sure hooker makes direct replacements. I love how mine sounds. doesn't pick up until about 2500rpm, so when you're on the freeway or whatever its damn near silent, but when you're accelerating or reving people know you're there...
