Best LTs for a 93 LT1?

What are the best LTs for a 93? Do I need coated or can I save like 200 bucks and go uncoated? Anyone who can give me pros and cons on coating and different brands, would be awesome.

Also, I'd really like comments from anyone who knows alot about the possibility of 93s having MORE RESTRICTIVE stock headers than 94+. True? What will this mean after the swap? Bigger gains, better mileage, etc?

Not true. The only differences in the 93 to 94 setups is the location of the Secondary AIR Injection tube on the passenger manifold (over the #8 primary on the 93, over the #2 primary on the 94) and the addition of an EGR Riser tube over the #8 primary on the 94. Essentially they're the same with those small differences.

If anything, it's actually been said that 93's are quicker off the floor than the rest.

Check out www.speeddensity.org for all your 93 needs.

hooker long tubes are the most popular w/ the LT1 crowd (cause when the car was in production thats all that basically was out that was fairly priced). Now u have pacesetter LTs, Jet Hots...On the other side of the coin you have your high priced FLP's, asm's

If you have the $$ go with Kook's. Little expensive, but they're worth it.

Coated is nice and shiny, helps with temp control under the hood, needs some upkeep to keep it from rusting. Noncoated will end up like your stock manifolds, nice brownish rust color on it.

Coating is not needed, just better.

If you plan on buying longtube headers, I recommend buying them directly from Jet Hot Coatings. Jet Hot makes their own longtube headers that were modeled after the Hooker longtubes. Don't skimp on the header coating...in the long run it'll pay off having them coated. Headers are generally made of mild-guage steel that can rust incredibly easily thus making your headers not very pretty to look at. Ceramic header coatings act as a heat barrier, trapping exhaust heat in the header, so the exhaust gases remain hotter and thus less dense, and therefore able to flow more quickly through the exhaust system. Plus, by trapping heat in the headers, coated headers will reduce underhood temperatures, which can contribute to lower air intake temperatures which will will result in more power opposed to headers that are non-coated. I think the "Jet Hot" headers will run you around $550. directly through them, and they may still offer a 2 or 3 payment plan. I purchased my Jet Hot coated Hooker headers through them in 2002.

Sounds like the best option for me... but then I also have to buy a Y seperate, right?

Right now, I have my stock Y going through some straight pipe to a single Bullet, then dumping behind my axle. It is pretty loud, I like it tho. When I finally put some LTs on... I don't want unbearable sound... I love the sound right now, and I'd like to keep a good sound, without cop-captivating volumes. As is, cops look at me. I love it, and don't want it quiet, I want it to keep sounding mean, but just not much more than it is now.

Actually any good local exhaust shop should be able to fab up a y-pipe for you for under $100. plus it will fit alot better than a pre-fabbed one.
