Best LT1 Heads for the Money?

I'm looking to you guys for help on buying the best Heads for the LT1. Before someone suggests GTP.. I'm not paying 2500 Dollars for a set of heads.

I'm looking for something in the 1000-2000 Dollar Range that'll flow very well up to .600 Lift. This is going to be a sleeper car so i don't plan on running anything very wild. Just a combo that will yield very good results till i strap a blower on.

Thanks

I was looking at some of the CFM numbers and really none of them even came close to the Patriot Stage 2 LS6's. Damnit... We need LT4 Versions from Patriot. Ohh Terry

There are quite a number of guys here putting 400+ rwhp to the ground through LT1/LT4 heads so you really need to define your goals before asking what the "best" is. Cause the real question is, "Which is the best for my goal". And that answer is likely, "The stock casting!".

Then there's the 12, 14, 15, 18º, canted-valve gen1 SBC head conversion. How much were you looking to spend $$$$$$??????

Very good Point. Those members getting 400+... How big of a cam are they running?

Just depends.

Most 350 ci guys are running cams in the 234+ range to see the 400 mark but there are some flukes out there doing it with a little less. The CC306 and GM847 cam are popular choices but it's going to matter less on the camshaft and much more on the entire package.

You couldn't go wrong in consulting with Joe Overton, Bret Bauer, AI and/or Lloyd Elliot before spending the money. These guys help out on the boards and are all class acts who work with these engines every day.

Then again, there are enough guys making this level of power than you probably won't go wrong in copying their setups.

Good luck!
