I'm running a Carsound cat; pretty common at most exhaust shops.

The catalyst or honeycomb is similar in most cats. What you want is the
largest cross section so there are the most passages for flow. If you have
space limitatons that's another story. I have magnaflows, but carsound are
cheaper and probably very close to the same. The cats in the picture below
are 2.5" inlet and outlet, but you can see that two fit in just fine. I would
imagine that one big 3" would fit as well.

I think carsound makes the cats for the Magnaflow systems, but I'm not positive. My carsound cat had the magnaflow label on the box if I remember correctly.

I'm pretty sure I got my 3" in/out carsound cat from performancepeddlers on ebay.

looks like a carsound cat huh?

also i quess you can see why i ordered the new catback...hopefully i can rip the old catback off without getting any of that jagged pipe stuck in the cat...ill take a look at the supercat when the catback is off and see if the honeycombs are still in place. should be an easy boltup once the old flowmaster catback comes off

My vote is for Random Tech, hands down! Of course you will pay for it!

Read this article for a little knowledge on why 'High Flow Cat' means nothing when it comes to catalytic converter manufactures. High flow is subjective, and cheap cats are saving money on something ... usually the precious materials need for the catalyst process to occur.

Well, you might want to also view this article:
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...n11.122001.htm

It shows how well the Carsound cat's flow, and the one in the article was only a 2.5" cat. A 3" will flow even better. A random tech may last a little longer, but it's a LOT more expensive. I can buy multiple Carsounds for the price of a Random tech.

It's up to you though, there is no wrong answer.
