Best Header Size and Muffler

I am running a 94 Camaro LT1. It is all factory and I eintend for the engine to stay that way.

What is the best header size?
I also have to run a baffled muffler. What is the best type and brand for this application?

1 3/4 headers. If anyone tells you 1 7/8 then don't listen to them. You will make less power with the 1 3/4. As for the muffler.... I'm not sure what you want.

Muffler

Well, I am looking to run IHRA Pure Stock. I figured this would be the best place to find out how to find stock horsepower.

The Rule Reads: Headers permittedwith O.E.M. type mufflers, must be baffled and/or chambered. No straight through type allowed.

If your going to build the motor any time soon 1"3/4. If not and your going to keep it completly stock 1"5/8. I would do a cat back system. Hooker sound good . I have the SLP loud mouth. You have to hear what you like. If you install something make sure you listen to it on someone's car first.

I would recommed either MAC, SLP or AS&M headers. The MAC's have 1 5/8" primaries, and the SLP's and AS&M headers have 1 3/4" primaries.

They are all great choices.

I love my MAC's ('94-'95 style) and it's hard to beat the price you can get them from, Coated, from Jet-Hot www.jet-hot.com

The headers, coated inside and out, with the Y-pipe coated inside and out is about $560 shipped to your door.

All you need is a cat or Off Road Pipe(ORP) and it could bolt up to your stock exhaust if you want, but I would recommend a new cat-back exhaust.

My headers and catback added 30-40 ft-lbs of TQ EVERYWHERE in the RPM range. The average gain from 1800-5700 RPM was 33 ft-lbs of TQ just from the exhaust. That's through a single cat. If I removed the cat and put an ORP in there, the gains would be a few ft-lbs better.

System

In this class I'm looking for long tube headers straight into a baffled muffler, dumped right behind the muffler. not crossing the two sides together or using a cat at all. this car will not be driven on teh street, but the engine has to remain stock

Im still set on a Jet-Hot coated header. Just not sure about 1 5/8 or 1 3/4.

The only thing i really dont know about is the muffler. I am not used to messing with baffled mufflers in the racing industry.

Flowmaster 40 series are a 2 chambered muffler.
