24lb or 30lb injectors for N/A 383

Hey guys

Do you think the stock injectors will be good enough for my all motor 383? Or should I go with 30/36 or even bigger? I've heard of some sticking with the stock ones and everything was fine, but I dont want to take the chance if I dont have to. So what injectors are you guys running on your strokers??? I dont want to run out of fuel on the top end!

FYI
n/a 10.8:1 383
s3 h/c
58mm tb
hooker super comps/ no cats/ hooker cat back

thanks!

you can run less fuel pressure with bigger injectors.

No headwork or anything? I'd probably do 36# to be safe, and have some room to grow should you get heads etc.

Why didn't you run more static compression?

What cam?

Est. HP?

The car is 10.8:1 383

It has stock LT1 heads hogged out beyond belief, porter spent tons of time on them. Cam is a 228/232 .545/.565 114. I probably should have gone bigger on the cam to get the max out of the head port, but the engine builder specd this one out for max streetability.

As far as comp ratio, I wanted it to have exellent street manners, and the diff from say 10.8 to 11.5 (given all else is the same) isnt anything to cry home about so I chose to play it safe.

I have a setup similar to yours (except for the cam, mine is quite "larger"), and I will be running 42# SVO injectors.

I'd say to use a 36 # injector and ditch the aeromotive regulator. The stock one works beautifully.

I have 30's on my 383...and I have a little bigger cam...they aren't maxed out...but for insurance, and the possibilty that I might spray, I'd do 36's..

Years ago I ran 113-115 mph with stock 24 lbs injectors with stock fuel psi many times. Never had an issue.

Switched to 30 lbs injectors along with some other things and ran 115-116 mph many times.

Hogging out heads does not make them flow just because. Have you flowed the heads?

I am running 30lb SVO's on my 350 with a 230/236 XE. I ran the Hotcam and on Freescan my pluse width on the injectors was 22 on 24lb stock injectors. Which means that they were wide open almost all the time at WOT. After talking to Bryan Herter(pcmforless.com) he said to go with 30lb injectors to keep from running out of fuel. He has done my tunning for three years now and I think he knows what he is talking about. I now run 14 on the pulse width at WOT. I also run a AFPR. Good luck.

Going off memory here...

Flowed on a superflow 2000 @ 28", no blow tube, Not sure on the bore size

29X on the intake and I cant remember for the life of me the ex

Btw i think i'm going with 30's. 'if' the car ever sees spray, it will probably be a wet shot anyways. I found a brand new set for 150 so i cant pass that up. 400+ rwhp H/C LS1 cars are running just fine on 26/28lb injectors, so 30's should be fine for me.

I for one would be very surprised if someone could get the stock LT1 casting to flow in the 290 range, people have trouble getting the LT4 there. I hope your head porter is honest, because if those numbers are true, they own.

30s would be fine and you can get them cheap used over on the corral.net forum. 36s would leave you more room and you can find good deals on those ar well.
