Best Header Gaskets?
I'm going to be installing some MAC headers soon. Can someone who knows direct me to some good header gaskets? I was thinking Felpro's, or maybe just getting ones from GM. From what I know, I sould stay away from coppers. Help please!
I used Felpro 1406. I think that's the p/n, do a search. That seems to be the standard around here. Make sure you get a gasket with the hooks at either ends (Felpros do), it makes installation so easy.
Yeah, I think the Felpro 1406's are great gaskets. If you want to buy the gaskets locally, the Mr. Gasket Ultraseals are what I have on my MACs with zero leaks. ($20 at Autozone) They are very similar to the felpro design.

I've always had great luck with el cheapo Mr Gasket paper header gaskets. Put them in some water, let em soak and swell. Then put them on with a little high temp rtv.
As long as the header flange doesn't look like a street in San Francisco they'll seal just fine.

I think its all luck? I went with the 1406s after some researching and they bit it after about a month or two. After that I just took it to a shop and let them order what they wanted? And all turned out ok! Its been over a year so far ( knocking on wood and everything else around me right now ) !
