I noticed a significant improvement with the addition of an MTI CAI and air foil. They were my first and only mods for quite some time. Dynoed 271 HP / 301 TQ on a dynojet. I ordered a K & N CAI, but it would not fit due to my car having traction control.

If you guys are talking about mti lids for ls1 then check out gmht mag this month. they have tested 9 lids, with dyno/track numbers for all of them.

For those who do not know what baffles are, they are the rain guards in the hood to prevent water from going into your engine.

1. they are a flow restriction

2. i've heard of people removing them, driving in heavy rain and never having a problem.

To remove them you have to cut them out of the hood with a dremel tool.

Feel inside the air inlet to your box. You should have to move your hand up/over the first baffle, and down/under the second.

Isn't the slp made of aluminum?
Won't that absorb more heat than a plastic cai?

I just learned that a K&N FIPK produces 7rwhp over the SS airbox when on a 383 stroker motor thats already making 400rwhp!

I think i'll save $200 on a cold air intake.

I have this same question and trying to choose between SLP and K&N, but had one question.

Anybody know if both filter replacements are available in local parts stores? I'm guessing K&N is available everywhere, but do you have to order the SLP ones directly from SLP?

I do believe you have to buy them from SLP if you want the exact replacements. If you can Jerry-rig a different filter to fit, I don't know

I got the K&N FIPK and I love it, I feel like there was a much better diff. than the stock air box w/ k&n replacement(what I had before)

I wonder if the dyno runs were made with the hood open or closed? Probably open.
In that case the ss airbox would be blown away by a cai.

Anyone got any dyno #'s?
