Best Clutch package on the Market

Just wondering what everybodys favorite clutch is for an M6. Whether it be Mecleod Centerforce etc. And what are the pros and cons of each clutch.

Thanks everybody,

I'd like to know this as well as I'm int he market for a new clutch since my soon to be M6 swap needs a new clutch. I'm looking to spend about $500? Is there a decent package for that price???

Street Twin by far is the best clutch out there.

SLP setup is suppose to be great. The only complaint i have heard is it can't hold monsterous amounts of power. I am going with it on my 230/236 and ported heads but i never go to the track or drop the clutch.

Street Twin, great clutch! Don't waste your money on anything less, since you will end up with one anyway. I did.

I wish had bought it instead of the regular McLeod.

There's a guy on another board that was trying to convince me not to get the street twin because approx. 390 at the wheels doesn't warrant it, it will break everything behind the clutch, better have a 12 bolt. Not that I don't believe him, because I do, but I have not heard a bad thing about the street twin yet. Yeah, you could go single disk, but look above and even someone running the single disk is wishing they got the twin.

Survey says........

That doesn't make any sense. In effect he's saying "get a clutch that slips". You can probably toast your rear end just as easily with a stock clutch, if you do 5K dumps. On street tires, the tires will spin before the clutch slips. If not, you need a stronger clutch. If you use sticky tires with any clutch and have a stock rear, you had best be very careful launching.

Thumbs up

The street twin will grab like no other. It is a great clutch.

It does have drawbacks:
It can chatter,
It won't be smooth on initial engagement.
It costs Big $.

My advice, get the alum flywheel S. Twin. and the master/slave cyl. Then go and enjoy it.

Is your car a daily driver or a weekend racer?

Stock or heavily modded?

If you're car is heavily modded making 400rwhp or more and you race it hard the street twin is probaly the best choice, it's around $1K. 350-400rwhp one of Specs clutches would be a good choice for around $500. 300-350rwhp modded car something like SLP's is a decent setup for around $360. Near stock I would go with a new stock clutch for $2-300. Just my opinion.

If you have the money, street twin is the way to go. However, if you can't justify a grand for a clutch right now like I can't (regardless of how much it will save me in the long run) get the McLeod performance clutch, and get the disc rebuilt Kevlar or something strong like that. Mine lasted more than twice as long as any other clutch I've had. Now I'm gonna try an SLP LT4 pressure plate with a Clutchnet disc. We'll see how that works out.
